High-Quality Dental Implant Restorations Improve Your Smile
Our Implant Solutions
Dental implants are an excellent permanent solution for replacing missing or extracted teeth. Beyond restoring the completed look of your smile, implants play a critical role in helping maintain the wellbeing of your oral health. Whether you’re missing one tooth or an entire arch, our team offers dental implant solutions to replace missing teeth and give you the smile you deserve and have always wanted.
What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a permanent solution to replacing lost, extracted, or broken teeth. Rather than removing this prosthetic, dental implants are designed to closely mimic the function of your natural tooth and are permanently anchored to the jawbone during an outpatient procedure. After a healing period, patients enjoy a completely restored smile. Boasting a high success rate of over 95 percent, dental implants are considered the gold standard of restorative treatments thanks to their durability and longevity.
What is the Dental Implant Process?
Getting dental implants is a multi-step process that occurs over the course of several months. Dr. Boscia and his team want to make sure we give you enough time to heal between each step. Giving your body necessary time to recover after your implant placement increases the chance of success, giving a strong, stable base for the abutment and crown.
Our Dental Implant Process
Choosing to replace your missing teeth with dental implants is one of the best investments you can make in your oral health and wellbeing. We want you to know what to expect during each phase of treatment so you feel confident in choosing this life-long investment. Dr. Boscia performs all the necessary procedures at his practice in Lake St. Louis, MO. We’ll work with you to make sure nothing gets in your way of achieving a beautiful, restored smile. To start your dental implant journey, schedule a comprehensive consultation with Dr. Boscia.
Your Dental Implant Consultation
When you visit our practice for your initial consultation you’ll sit down with Dr. Boscia to discuss your goals for tooth placement. Because you’re an essential part of this process, Dr. Boscia makes every effort to really understand what you want to accomplish and addresses any concerns you may have. He’ll also explain every step of the process so you have all the information you need to make an informed decision about your care.
Your Comprehensive Examination
During your consultation visit, Dr. Boscia will thoroughly examine your teeth, gums, and jawbone and take full X-rays. He’ll use this information to create a treatment plan suited to your individual needs. He’ll also use this information to determine if your mouth is prepared to support dental implants, or if any supplemental treatments are necessary such as gum disease treatment. Dr. Boscia wants to prepare your teeth, gums, and jawbone for dental implants and ensure your procedure is a success.
Your Customized Treatment Plan
Once Dr. Boscia has all the information he needs, he will design a treatment plan and present it to you, along with recommendations. If you have any concerns about which option is right for you, he’ll explain everything available to you and make certain any fears or anxiety you may have is tended to compassionately. Our goal is to help make dental implants not only affordable for you, but a restoration process you can look forward to, knowing you’ll have a brand new smile.
Dental Implant Placement
Once you have approved your treatment plan and any necessary supplemental procedures have been completed, you’ll have your dental implants and restorations placed, involving the following steps:
- Placement of the Dental Implant Fixture – During the surgical procedure, Dr. Boscia will place a titanium post (also called a fixture) into your jawbone. If you qualify for same day or immediate load implants, your replacement tooth, bridge, or denture will be attached and you’ll leave your appointment with a fully restored smile.
- The Recovery Process – The recovery process is essential to the success of your dental implants. During this period, the jawbone will fuse with the titanium post, a process called osseointegration. Osseointegration creates a stable, durable foundation for your tooth restoration. Dr. Boscia will give you instructions to follow during the recovery period and we may schedule several follow-up appointments to ensure everything heals properly.
- Attaching the Restoration – After your jawbone has fully fused to the implant post you’ll return to our office to have the final two pieces placed. During this visit, Dr. Boscia will attach an abutment to the implant post to secure the restoration. Your new natural-looking tooth–crown, bridge, or denture–will then be attached.
